King Mucus

While I was away from blogging,  I was busy with client interaction.  With few exceptions,  mucus congestion was part of every consultation.  Whether in the form of allergies, asthma, sinus pain, post nasal drip or habitual throat clearing— mucus was king.  People need to know that allergies, asthma, all respiratory congestion,  post nasal drip, sore throats and plugged ears are  symptomatic warnings that mucus congestion is acute in the lymphatic system.

Mucous membranes are tissues that line almost all body cavities and canals including our stomach, liver, bowel, intestines, lungs, nose, colon and reproductive organs. A fluid called lymph lies just under the various layers of the skin and is of close proximity and association with our mucous membranes.  Mucus is a slippery substance produced in and secreted from the lymphatic system.   The lymph’s job is to use mucus as a sponge to cleanse the body.  This is a big job and the lymphatic system creates enormous amounts of mucus to do this job. The lymph then dumps this toxic material into the large intestines for removal.

The lymphatic system is like an ocean in the body and is a crucial part of our immune system. Lymph surrounds all veins and arteries and the mucus it produces absorbs toxins from the bloodstream though the walls of the veins ard arteries.  The lymph vessels pick up these toxic infecting organisms or foreign particles throughout the body and delivers them to the lymph nodes, where defensive agents await them.  Agents such as scavenger cells, lymphocytes, histamine and antibodies engulf and consume them.  If mucus accumulates and becomes swollen in the lymph, this function breaks down.  The mucus eventually moves into the bloodstream, over stressing the immune system until every part of the body is affected with inflammation.  Excess mucus encourages parasites, candida yeast, colon destruction, (diverticulitis) hemorrhoids,  allergies, post nasal drip, asthma, bronchitis.  With an increase of congestion in the lymph comes an increase of toxins that result in gout, arthritis and  heart disease.  More troubling is certain cancer cells spread by feeding on this stagnant, morbid matter that is clogging the lymphatic system.

Symptoms of mucus congestion indicate it is time to clean house!  The lymph must be cleansed and stimulated naturally. Cleansing of the walls of the intestines in a good start.  Over the counter bowel cleanses are often overpriced and with limited efficacy.   The use of many herbs that will stimulate and support digestion and elimination is much more effective.  I teach my clients how to integrate herbs into a lasting lifestyle with profound changes and an added bonus is it is very cost effective.  Some commonly used herbs are red clover, enchinacea,  goldenseal, ginseng, betonite clay, alfalfa, spirulina, yellow dock, pau d aco,  fenugreek and dandelion.  All these herbs contain numerous healing properties and work synergistically, thus increasing healing exponentially. Secondly I insist that clients move toward organic food. Why bother to clean house if you are simply going to muck up again with poison food?  White sugar and hydrogenated oils are alwasys eliminated.  I sometimes suggest reducing milk products,  short term fasts and/or an  alkaline diet.

I suffered from severe allergic rhinitis for over thirty years. I used every product available including injections.  Yet I still found myself incapacitated many days due to allergies.  I no longer have allergies.  It does not make a bit of difference to me if the pollen count is high or kitty cats are in the house.  Boy does it feel great not to have allergies!
